This analysis is based on a telephone survey conducted June 22-28, 2018 among n=800 likely November voters in Alaska. The margin of error is +/- 3.4% at the 95% level of confidence.

New poll shows Walker in strong second place in the Governor’s race—Begich trailing

Recent polling shows Governor Walker and Lt. Governor Mallott continue to hold second place. With 28% of the vote, the bipartisan gubernatorial team is ahead of recent entries Mark Begich and Debra Call (22%). And while the Dunleavy / Meyer team continues to hold a single-digit lead, their support has dropped (-3) since we were last in the field in March.

It’s also worth noting that undecided voters are substantially made up of self-identified independents, a group that has provided significant support for Governor Walker in the past. And this poll is no exception, with nearly half indicating they support the Governor, and only around one-in-10 opting for either major party candidate.

The Governor is also popular across the political spectrum with Republicans, independents and Democrats offering favorable opinions of him. This is in contrast to his opponents who garner favorable reviews mainly from their own partisan base— meaning they fail to unite Alaska in the way Governor Walker can.
